Hi all,
It’s been awhile! I hope you are all doing well?
I have been well. My meditation practice has been good and for the last 10 weeks I have been dieting on around 1400 calories a day.
I took some measurements on 14 April 2022 and using my electronic scales they measured:
Weight 79.70
BMI 28.6
Body fat % 30.2
fat free body weight 55.65
subcutaneous fat 26.7
Visceral fat 11
Body water 50.4
Skeletal muscle 15.9
Muscle mass 52.90
Bone mass 2.74
protein 15.9
BMR 1571
And today on 19/05/22 it was:
Weight 75.90
BMI 26.9
Body fat % 28.6
Fat free body weight 54.20
Subcutaneous fat 25.4
Visceral fat 9
Body water 51.50
Skeletal muscle 46.1
muscle mass 51.50
Bone mass 2.75
Protein 16.3
BMR (Base metabolic Rate) 1540
The scales are pretty good with all the measurements. I have lost 3.8kg. I was likely heavier before I measured myself properly at the later date.
I am starting to lose muscle mass so am a bit wary to continue dieting, but it goes to show that with my muscle mass the BMI is redundant. I am looking pretty healthy. My BMR is low though at only 1550 calories a day. I do put on weight eating any more than that so it is very accurate.
I have been drinking Huel meal replacement black edition with the extra protein one meal of the day. What with having coeliac disease food has become a chore. I don’t like gluten free bread very much so with the Huel powder being gluten free I am going to increase and swap out most food altogether. I love the shakes and their flavours and you can measure calorie intake precisely. I
It is strange that I have stopped enjoying eating food, but vitamins and nutrients wise Huel is more complete anyway. I still eat fruit and a piece of chicken every day… What with the cost of living crisis huel works out as £44 a week if I increase it to 3 or 4 shakes a day, so for a healthy diet it is not bad. I take vitamin supplements as well. How much are you spending on food groceries a week?
I was thinking of buying a set of 50kg dumbells and putting on some muscle, but I have no source of knowledge of how to do this properly without injuring myself. I am 49 (50 in a few months) and getting the right advice on how to work out safely with a bar and dumbells with the right diet is hard to find. Anyone know a set of videos for such a workout? I have been doing 100 press ups every morning for years.
Anyway, I hope all is cool with everybody? Keep well!
