I was on Clozapine for 3 years and then stopped it. It worked better for me than any medication I’ve ever been on but I stopped it because I got sick of the blood draws. Looking back on it, my cognitive functioning is far worse than it was before starting it and I was wondering if that could have been from the medication or something else. I should be starting it again tomorrow but I am worried about if there are long term effects of this medication that you never hear about.
I have been on it for years and I find it helpful.
How often did you go for the blood draws??
Meds aren’t supposed to mess with cognition.
It’s the most helpful medication that I’ve tried. The side effects I have are weight gain, drooling when sleeping, drowsiness, and faster heart rate.
I really start to go crazy when I don’t take it, so I take it even though I don’t like the side effects.
I get a blood draw once a month.
I went in for blood draws biweekly
I am not sure if this is directed at me, but I go once a month.
I would get fed up of that too! Thats alot!
If you kept with it, it would have went down to once a month.
It became too much during quarantine. I couldn’t handle going in and being so paranoid of being in public when this all started.
I hear you. That makes sense.
I’ve been on it for a year, seems to help alot.
I have been on clozaril for nearly ten years now, it is the only ap med that has worked for me, the side effects are very hard to take though they include weight gain, drooling at night constipation among others, but the pros outweigh the cons!
I’m on it…
I get blood work done once a month…
Issues remain but is easier to cope with on clozapine
