Has anyone here had a lobotomy?
I think in this age is illegal to perform
Haha no. Your going back to the 1940s and 50s. That craps been illegal for years in most developed countries.
My best friend’s uncle was the inventor of that procedure.
There is a rare few “psychosurgery” procedures done. But its done alot more with precision now. Even the soviet union banned it in the 1950’s.
Their tool of choice was an icepick
I did a paper on it funnily enough at university in the 80’s. It truly was a hack and slash method.
What did you study in university seth? Thats impressive
Oh god no. it was nothing. I only managed 8 months. I didnt qualify. University of Sussex in Brighton. I wasnt no grade A student. I was pissed half the time down the pub lol.
(I was studying psychology - and what was the NNEB (Nursery Nursing)
I did 3 years, 72 credits completely crazed and bonked out of my mind.
I almost thought I could’ve done more but being fd up the teachers picked on my situation and graded me harder as time went on.
Although I did start forgetting about tests and stuff. But I felt they went hard on my writing for being psychotic. Maybe I was just psychotic. But with all this stuff about “you want to learn to think for yourself” in college. They definitely graded me harder once I learned to actually think for myself a little!!
As far as lobotomies go. No I never had one. yet. At least
Hahaha dhjsbshshshsgsvsh
Not did they only perform lobotomy on people, they also castrated them. It really sucked being mentally ill.
Similar surgeries are still done on people with severe epilepsy. I had a student who had one of these done
I can imagine someone asking 50 years from now if anyone has taken antipsychotics or had ECT.
“No mate, that crap’s been illegal for ages”.
It must suck for your friend to be related to such a monster.
Have they ever tried to assess the full damage done by that relative?
That would be good, because it would mean better and more effective treatments have been discovered. Lobotomies didn’t get phased out until something better (antipsychotics) was developed to replace it.
But surely lobotomies should have been stopped even if nothing better came along. Lobotomies were more than just a collective blunder of the medical community, it was arguably a crime against humanity.
They still “castrate” us MI people. But it’s a chemical castration from AP’s and AD’s.
