Little thanks go a long way

I know that in America people do not thank sales persons at grocery stores so often, but when I go to the store and buy food I always thank these sales persons for their service when I leave the store. This makes people feel nice. Even today when I went to the store and bought food, I told one sales person ‘Happy May Day, if we do not see before the day’, I believe this made this person feel good and valued. Little words may mean a lot.
