For how long can you take atypical antipsychotics and can you take an antidepressant SSRI in addition to antipsychotics and for how long can you take ssri with antipsychotics
I have been taking cipralex since june 2019 in addition to invega since september 2017
I took 40mg of Olanzapine (antipsychotic) and 75mg of Venlafaxine (antidepressant) together for about 10 years. Although Venlafaxine is a SSNRI, not an SSRI
In addition to that I took 1mg lorazepam PRN.
I also take crestor, forxiga and metformin to deal with the side effects of my psych meds.
Everyone is different, therefore everyone is affected differently by different medications. You just have to try them out and see what works best for you. Some people could take the same combination as you and do well in school while others may take that same combination and have cognitive problems and not be able to pay attention in class. Unfortunately no one can give you a definitive answer, it’s trial and error.
For example: When I was on a high dose of olanzapine and venlafaxine I slept all the time and had no energy, I couldn’t do anything. Now I am off both those meds and am on Lurasidone and clonazepam and have a part time job. The meds you are on can make a big difference, again trial and error, try something and see how it effects YOU.
