I don’t have any professional clothes that fit me right now. I wear leggings, sweats and capris with cotton tunics. I got rid of all my office clothes years back. About a week ago I realized I would be needing some tops and slacks if I were to go back to work so I ordered some. But they take awhile to get here. The tops show as delivered, I guess they’re down in my mailbox, so that’s good, but I’m waiting on those slacks. If those slacks even fit me. I had no clue what size to even get. I may have to send them all back for a larger size. I’m praying they fit and that they get here before any interviews get scheduled. Otherwise I don’t know what to wear.

I would be better off if the county would do a written examination to make a list to hire off of. I know I would score high and could impress them that way.

If you get the eligibility specialist position you’ll probably run into a number of people trying to perpetrate fraud, depending on where you are posted for your job.

I’ve encountered fraud before. You notate the facts and turn it over to the fraud investigator. They take it from there. It’s too bad but it’s their own fault for lying.

Some knit pants were delivered today that will pass I think for interview attire if my slacks don’t get here in time. So that’s good. It’s a fairly casual county. I don’t need to wear a suit or heels or anything too dressy.

My makeup came too. My old makeup was years old. I didn’t want to put spoiled makeup on my face. Does it spoil? Well anyway, I got fresh. And I got fresh mascara. I needed eyeliner, so I got that too. I have plenty of everything else. I’ll probably go very natural. Older women look better with a more natural look imo. So they can call me anytime and I’m prepared. Now it’s just waiting for someone to contact me. Please!

When you search if you wanna keep it for awhile then try to go for one that can lead to advancement. Its better to not look at starting salary sometimes and see what its like mid career. Thats what I heard at least

I am in kinda gonna be in a similar situation down the road so I get ya, its gonna be tough in this job market I think

Yea, the range for the eligibility position is $2450 to $3100 thereabouts. But there’s room for advancement to a different title once you gain more knowledge. And the benefits are good.

The casino is a lot lower without many benefits.

So on the job posting for Eligibility Specialist it’s suffixed with a I/II. So meaning one or two. And the pay range covers both those positions I’m assuming. If by some chance they hire me they would likely be hiring me in as a two because I have over 4 years of experience running a caseload. So I’m assuming I wouldn’t start at the bottom of that range. I don’t know what the range is for a two exclusively. But $2450 is like $14 bucks an hour or something. It’s not very much. If they started me at $2800 that would be close to $16 an hour. And then if you figure in all the benefits that’s not too bad. I only make $1252 on Social Security so I would be more than doubling my money. Of course all my expenses would go up too. So that’s definitely something to consider.

Doesnt sound like a bad deal to me. Tho Im not sure what an eligibility specialist is tbh, and also the cost of living in your area factors in.

I live in an expensive area with low pay and a grant and thats about it

Have you ever applied for medicaid or foodstamps? The person who helps you with that is an Eligibility Specialist.

No never thankfully. That sounds like a lot of paperwork and organizational skills. I dont have that lol but Im sure you do if youve got four years exp! Im sure youll find something, maybe relocation tho thats always tough

But just to let you know sometimes I apply tons of places and get nowhere and I applied for my current thing and it was the first one tho I made other applications. Its pretty much luck and the market. Youll find something eventually

Thanks for the vote of confidence. I guess right now I’ll have to be patient. It’s just hard because I’m ready to work and I’m getting restless with my pent up energy.

Here is my advice: dont be patient, but pace yourself and find a job you are 100 percent sure you will be able to work. I was rejected for the full-time position I re-applied for the part-time position which is what my friend recommended and put him in for the referral so we will get a bonus when I start the job, I was hired yesterday at the interview. I was as honest as possible. I think its best to try and exaggerate a little or be confident. Call the place back that you want, act and feel as if you already have the job, attitude is everything, and prove them that you have the skillset. Also, I would recommend a part time or entry level position if you are starting out or returning to work. I found reliable transportation, so if my dad cant drive me I just hired someone to drive me that i will pay in cash and it might be a regular that i just ride with this person…I will be making good money so I dont mind paying for a ride to work and I really just want to work for the sake of saying I can do it. Not about the money or anything thats a plus…two days a week is all thats required, but i can pick up shifts anytime all week. So I will be taking on all that I can and I can use that to save for a car of my own.

Can you go to a store to look for an interview outfit? It would at least get you through an interview until you get your sizes etc straightened out

We don’t have a clothing store in this town. It’s a tiny town, and our two that we had closed down when the owners retired.

you could call them back and ask for an interview say that you really need this job that you are a trustworthy and reliable person…

most of all I think a casino is concernred about trustworthy because thats a high security type position and there are cameras everywhere in casinos…and it would be a fun job, there’s a casino here too i would love to work there but rn I am doing something else.

also if you write up a resume you can just put in lived experience, school, anything you’ve done that counts toward experience in that field. My resume is very simple and to the point. less is more IMO just keep it simple and straight forward.

I worked at the casino, in the position I’m applying for for over 4 years. I’m genuinely surprised they didn’t call me. I was an excellent employee. Always covered other peoples shifts when they called in sick even if it meant I pulled a double, always balanced both banks, never called in sick, was popular with my coworkers, was liked by customers. The only problem was I left to go out on disability. But they shouldn’t hold that against me imo.
