Lazy days and an update on my studies! 😭

Avolition is driving me nuts, so as you guys might remember in October last year I started an Integrated Masters in Astronomy. However I restart the course in February and have changed to a combination of Maths, Physics and Economics instead. A normal bachelors this time.

But recently I’ve been hella lazy and slowed down my efforts on studying. The concepts feel difficult to remember without sufficient practice and practice feels difficult to do because I get demotivated with the fact that I have to remember too much.

This is every student’s typical challenge. And I do NOT want to blame Schizophrenia for my laziness. But yeah I thought I would post an update on my studies since it’s been over a year.

I was average 50/60 in mathematics and 40s in physics. But I decided the less challenging physics modules were just not interesting enough and they had too much computer programming and experimental stuff that doesn’t appeal to me. This is why I changed modules and cut down to a BSc from an MPhys.

How are your studies and hobbies/interests going? Anyone got any advice for me? Especially with Avolition (difficulty motivating myself to practice).

I noticed that wen I eat very strict, my motivation improves.

Good luck with finding wat works for u

As in vegetables? or calorie restriction?

Yes like organic quinoa and organic vegetables, in strict moderation. Those kind of foods.

Can you make it a routine drinking some coffee in the morning and taking a 30 minute walk to get going?

Once I get going things are easier.

Yeah, I find caffeine pills help a little. Walking makes sense, it’s definitely worth trying more often

Edit. Something that really bothers me is that zyban/Wellbutrin really helped me with avolition but in the UK it is only licensed for smoking cessstion

I find that the thing with studying is, that there is just sooooo much information out there.

It’s pretty much, overwhelming!

And that kind of puts me off because then, I don’t know where to start and how to start.

Just feel I can emphasise, perhaps.

I think the solution is just to go with ur interest of wat I want to study first

And keep it to 3o minute sessions, very strictly.

So that it’s not gonna burn out.

I recommend getting Spotify for music breaks.

They prescribe it against depression in my country. But it can worsen psychosis so they don’t prescribe it at all for people with sz/bipolar…

Why were you prescribed Wellbutrin in the first place?

That’s pretty much how I do it so far, just wish it was more productive

I’m too in school but finishing next week. I’d say try to set small obtainable goals for yourself regarding your school work. Focus on the small things that lead into the bigger picture

Can i ask what you are going to do with any of these degrees?

They don’t seem very practical for a sz life it seems.

If you do coding, or say an electronics degree or something then you can be practical and work from home in thefuture or something.

Just my two cents. Dismiss it if you like.

I feel like because I’m doing this course for 5 maybe even 6 years - I can’t make it any smaller than it already has been structured but your advice is definitely something I have to continue with :sob:

To whom?

Is there really a market for that?

I would do it but I find coding the most boring thing in the world.

School students, degree students and post grad students all need tutors, of course there’s a market. Especially for maths , people struggle and pay a lot to learn it

Same man, it’s hella dry and the learning curve is massive for someone with memory** issues

I think tutoring is a very fulfilling job if one is a natural at it.

I would love it too

Yeah, same here. You witness someone overcome a mental challenge in real time and provide guidance. It’s a noble and important part of people’s lives
