L-lysine as an adjunct to risperidone in patients with chronic schizophrenia

I had to look up what L-lysine was.

  • It’s an amino acid -“L-Lysine is a necessary building block for all protein in the body. L-Lysine plays a major role in calcium absorption; building muscle protein; recovering from surgery or sports injuries; and the body’s production of hormones, enzymes, and antibodies.”
  • It can be taken by mouth or as a cream (for herpes).
  • It also acts on Serotonin in the gut and brain.
  • And its found naturally in: eggs, meat (specifically red meat, lamb, pork, and poultry), soy, beans and peas, cheese (particularly Parmesan), and certain fish (such as cod and sardines).

I’m getting L-Lysine in Freeform amino acids. http://www.vitaminshoppe.com/p/solgar-essential-amino-complex-30-veggie-caps/sl-1011 It works very very well, however the effects wear off quicker than those from vitamins.
