Klonopin not working anymore

I’m on .5mg clonazepam as needed. I’m the beginning it was a god send but it doesn’t seem to be working as well as it used to. I have an appointment with my doctor tomorrow and I’m going to ask him to either up the dose or switch medications.

If you take it everyday you gain a tolerance to it and it doesn’t work as well.

The key is to take it once in a while as needed.

With that said Klonopin it isn’t as effective anymore and I rarely use it.

@Wave is right. You can’t take Klonipin everyday because you build up a tolerance to it and then you need more and more of it and it becomes an addiction. You should only use it sparingly and rarely if at all.

It’s the same way with all the benzodiazepines and all other scheduled drugs in general.

Benzos are a crap shoot. I’ve read stories of people who develop tolerance in a month or two, while others have been on them for 2 decades and they still work, it’s different for everyone.

But tolerance is a real thing and affects a lot of people.

I’ve been on 1.5mg of clonazepam every night for sleep for 2-3 months now, so far it has worked out good but I know I might develop a tolerance too.

It’s possible you may have become physically dependent on it, if that is the case you have to slowly reduce your dose before you quit, otherwise you could have very bad withdrawal symptoms. If you do have withdrawal symptoms the standard advice is to reduce your dose by 10% of your previous dose every 4 weeks, when you get down to a very tiny amount you can try and quit, hopefully the withdrawal won’t be too awful.
