I just saw a psychiatrist at the Same-Day Psychiatry Clinic. He wants me to increase my Latuda from 60mg to 80mg, for 5 days, then increase to 100mg.
If my cervical dystonia (movement disorder caused by long-term AP use) gets worse, because of the increase, or if I have any other terrible side effects, he wants me to go back down to 60mg and consider trying Clozapine.
I would need to work with my main/current psychiatrist to get a referral to a different psychiatrist who is certified to treat with Clozapine. That would make me very sad, though, because I love my current psychiatrist. She’s a great psychiatrist & great person.
Anyway, so I’m going to take 80mg of Latuda, tonight. Wish me luck.
so sorry for the med troubles. Have you ever considered Invega or Aristada? Aristada is more potent than Abilify and it isn’t giving me any TD or movement issues. My mom is going thru a similiar situation although unfortunately she simply refused the Haldol because its been making her twitch and feel sedated. She is physically improving, like she has lost more weight too but as far as the illness its not for me to say she’s just unmedicated so she is in her delusions.
I had cervical dystonia (torticolis) for about a year in 2010. It was a little embarrassing and I had a hard time making up a lie at the DMV why I couldn’t square up with the camera when they were trying to take my picture. It eventually slowly went away. I saw a movement disorder specialist who suggested Botox, but I wasn’t keen on the idea. Then she suggested tetrabenzine, but my insurance wouldn’t cover it. So I just waited it out. Was a pain in the neck. See what I did there?
