I’ve been there. Some parts are very dangerous. The Spirit of Philadelphia (a lunch/dinner cruise) is nice, and there are some nice concerts there. The Franklin Museum is great, and if you have kids, so is the Please Touch Museum. The zoo is mediocre. The city has great Italian food.
I lived there for a year, 2002-2003. I would say it’s a bit overrated. I definitely never felt any brotherly love lol.
I lived in kind of a ghetto, though. I was on the west side, just two boroughs over from West Philadelphia, the borough made somewhat famous by Will Smith’s Fresh Prince intro song. Well, also made famous by Penn (University of Pennsylvania, ivy league school).
Lived there a year and never had a cheesesteak. I wanted the original, from Pat’s, and that was across town, never made it over there. I never did any of the touristy stuff.
If you ever go, just stay the hell away from “North Philly” lol. I think @Ninjastar lives in the Philly area, or maybe I’m thinking of someone else.

No, just went to certain places, though I suppose I did see quite a few areas of the city. I was very ill when I lived in Philly, so I have sort of a bad impression of it, very bad memories from that time. It was in Philly that I had my first psychotic break. I was a med student there.
I lived in Philly for five years, and I absolutely loved it! Everyone is so friendly and down to earth. Summer is the best time to go, because you can swim in the fountains and nobody stops you. Old City, Center City, and the Gayborhood were my hangouts. The best chicken wings ever are served at a little pub/restaurant called Moriarty’s on Walnut and 12th. Look for the rainbow street signs and you will know you’re close.
