On Depakote I gained 40pounds in 4 months!

Weight gain is a side effect that I don’t tolerate. When I was put on Zyprexa, I gained 85lbs in 6 months.

I’m thinking of tapering off Risperdal Consta shots and either replacing it with nothing or trying Latuda, Vraylar or Amisulpride. Does anyone know if any of these are notorious for weight gain?

Latuda is known to be very weight neutral. I think it’s the most weight neutral med besides Geodon

I don’t blame you in the slightest, weight gain is much more dangerous than most people think. It comes alone with a host of other medical issues

I think thats not available in the US. Latuda and Vraylar cause much less weight gain than other APs except for Geodon.

Lurasidone (Latuda) has been the best med I have ever tried. That doesn’t mean it will work for you but I’d say give it a try.
I was on 40mg of olanzapine which is a very high dose of a potent antipsychotic so in theory 60mg of Lurasidone shouldn’t work because that is much lower dose, relatively speaking, and a weaker antipsychotic, but it works way better, and without all the nasty side effects I had with olanzapine.

I’m on ziprexa and lexapro. I certainly can’t do anything advanced. But I’m also out of practice and getting old. Those are factors.

Hearing your situation, it seems like a lot of antipsychotic are unsuitable for you. If you are in US, you could ask to be in a taar1 agonist trial, I think the potency of that medicine is quite high according to prior clinical trial result. Or wait for it to come out in the market in like 2023 minimum

I’m also on 3 meds simular to the 3 your on.I went on Clozapine in 1998 with a depot injection. But i were totally unaware of how to combat weight gain and constipation so I got of it but it really worked wellfor psychosis. Today I have simular side effects on the meds I’m on now and I remove the constipation with 2 times dayli movicol laxatives and foods rich on fiber like oats meals and veggies. This also helps for the weight gain caused by the weight gain caused by the 600 mg seroquel I take so this way I’m able to maintain a healthy weight. I know that you also know how to handle these side effect. So I don’t se why you should’nt give Clozapine a try. Besides I want to tell that my meds totally clears my mind. That’s good for my mental illness but very bad for my inttelect.
