I had a bad cough and was short on breath. I got a covid test, and it wasn’t that. The doctor gave me a couple of inhalers, and I got better. Then I ate a piece of whole grain breath torn up and in a bowl, soaked with maple syrup. It seemed like my physical problems came back. I waited a few days, and then at day treatment I ate some candy. I had to bend over and catch my breath several times just walking 200 yards. I was coughing hard too. It’s some kind of reaction my body has to sugar. I asked my physical doctor about it, and he said there were no signs of diabetes. Has anyone had an experience similar to this?
Do you suffer from any rashes after eating the bread? How about nausea when you eat a wholegrain cereal?
If you do it could be celiac disease.
Never heard of an allergy to sugar before.
No rashes and no nausea. It’s shortness of breath and unexplained coughing.
After eating a main meal I have mucus in my lungs that I need to cough up and spit out especially if it is spicy. It is due to asthma.
That sounds like a real possibility for me. Can you get asthma as an adult?
Yes, I am late onset myself. I went out running and had an asthma attack at around age 40.
Yep! I didn’t have asthma as a kid (asthma is much more common in children), but I did develop asthma at age 16! I didn’t technically develop asthma as an adult, being 16, but I am now 28 years old and my asthma has only gotten worse over time. I have “adult asthma” / severe asthma and I didn’t have asthma as a child… So, it’s considered late onset, I guess.
Maybe talk to your doctor and do some lung function tests? Could be something else, but could be asthma.
I got diagnosed with asthma as an adult. Oh god I must have been about 21 or so.
