Jewish people believe that God created the heavens and the earth and the Talmud is a book of His laws that they follow out of a sense of duty because they are beholden to God for the earth we live in and our lives. Duty, not gratitude. A much more mature stance on religion than a God who will send you to the happy place if you prop up his self-esteem, but that’s likely just me.
