Is your life unmanageable? Mine is

There’s a step in Alcoholic Anonymous where you admit your life has become unmanageable.

I’ve been sober for nearly 9 years and my life is still unmanageable.

But it’s due to avolition. Stuff is just piling up and I’m doing nothing about it. I don’t even know where to begin now.

It’s a horrible feeling.

I have been at a point where my life was unmanageable and like you said,

Stuff just kept piling up.

One day I put myself on some sort of autopilot and started doing things.

That was like eight years ago,

Now,

I do stuff every day and have anxiety if I don’t.

I think there is hope even if you feel really down.

Have you tried to just stand up and start a project?

How does that go?

This, too, shall pass. It just takes longer for we szs.

Complete Wino, yes. But never agreed with the statement i have never managed.

AA is a a bit of a cult of alcoholics constantly beating themselves up, over past deeds they did when drunk.

Avolition is horrible, I feel your pain. In order to break the curse sometimes, I have to wait until I insanely bored and then take the smallest if baby steps and try to accomplish something small. If that makes you feel good then ride that wave and try a bit of something else. I think small bites are the key to accomplishment.

Do one small thing per day. And dont think that you need to finish the task that day. Just get some sort of habit formed motion going.

Its tough but thats one way to approach it

Yes, but then I fall back into inaction and stuff piles up again.

I’ll have to make a conscious effort to keep going I think.

I’m sad that AA didn’t work out for you. Alcohol isn’t an easy thing to deal with on your own.

I just got lucky with AA and they helped.

Stuck in a rut? Flat on your butt?

Nothing seems fun? Wanting to run?

I want you to know. That I’ve got the dough.

To bail us out after adventures and woe.

In seriousness man, do you have any parks, or public spots in your area? How do you think you could handle a walk?

It’s been helpful to me.

Would you Be interested in a med shake up?

Oh, don’t get me wrong. AA works for me to a degree. It’s the other fellas talking that make it. I just don’t 100% conform to all their principles.

I take the good bits and leave the rest.
