Can anyone explain this article for us physics dummies?

Well, well, well … @Zoe :smirk:

Yes, I can explain the article for …uhmmm dummies

If something like time is an illusion, everything else should be an illusion as well. Does it mean that nothing matters? Well… maybe… or maybe not. The point is that you’re free to choose if that’s important or not :sunglasses:

I think there is many different dimensions with totally different time zones across the universe

You’re not wrong, every object has its own gravity

I don’t understand how quantum entanglement is the answer for time being an illusion.

Very interesting but I don’t understand :new_moon_with_face:

i dont understand in what way it is an illusion

In quantum entanglement time is static or can’t bend. The universe is one whole moment. The reason we experience time is cause we change with the clock and see the difference in movement. In relativity your relation to the object determines time. So if you’re closer to the speed of light time will appear slow or dilates. Quantum entanglement is one big moment whereas relativity is relative. Idk that’s what I got. I can picture entanglement. Understanding relativity is a little more difficult.

The video says that quantum entanglement is about 2 particles being connected regardless of distance. Particle 1 is affected by particle 2 and the effect is instantaneous. Ie there’s no time difference in between the change.

But what does that have to do with time?.. Being an illusion.

Nothing is faster than the speed of light. So if something can change instantaneously it kinda kills the general theory of relativity.

Oh OK so the theory of relativity is based on nothing travelling faster than speed of light?

@ericsbat

And the idea of time is woven into space time ie space and time are connected? Somehow.

So that makes time an illusion ie the time we’ve always known is not the time that is described here

The relationship between time and space. I think it’s a big part of the equation. In theory you’d start going back in time if you went faster than the speed of light.

Thanks you seem to know some physics stuff. Is it a hobby?

I guess so. However the general theory of relativity described time is not how time behaves.

I thought they already proved the theory of relativity in the way light has been observed to bend.

No I dont. Ive read a little about it.

No idea lol. I’m gonna look at 1 more video to familiarise myself better. Will post it once watched. Physics is interesting but I require to put a really focused thinking cap on for it, pretty challenging.

Yeah I took it in high school and have read some books. I tried to read a paper that Einstein wrote. It was insane. The relationship between theories and combining them to form another theory. There was no way in hell of understanding it.
