Is this TD?

I am on 30 mgs Abilify and 7.5 mgs Haldol. The Haldol started 2-3 months ago.

The left side of my upper lip, something pulls it from inside. It is not visible to me or others when I see myself in the mirror.

It is a very mild feeling. Also, it doesn’t happen all the time-- it only happens once in a while, but it has been happening since a couple of days. It sort of comes and goes, this feeling that something is pulling (from the inside) the left side of my upper lip.

Any people who have had TD may comment. I don’t want people guessing here, since I may quit the Haldol myself, I want to know if TD progresses from mild to severe or is this just something else?

Can someone help me out here. I haven’t taken the night dose of Haldol. I can’t speak with the doctor and besides she is too stubborn. If I say anything, she basically dismisses it. She asks questions and I have to answer them.

I am looking for a new doctor locally but in the meanwhile not too sure what to do.

We can’t diagnose you with anything, including TD. You need to talk to your prescriber about this issue and they, hopefully, will know what’s going on and how to help.

I have weird movements of my mouth when I talk, and I’m diagnosed with TD. But I can’t tell you if you have TD, only a doctor can tell you.

How can a doctor tell me? It is not even visible but I can feel it?

What if it gets more severe if I take the night dose tonight?

Did your begin as something mild and became more severe as time progressed?

All I can tell you is that larger AP doses carry a higher risk of developing TD. You’ve maxxed out on abilify and now you also take haldol, which is a typical AP, so the risk is real. Tell your doc.

They would listen to your description of the issue. I told my pdoc about my movements, without her seeing them yet, and she was sure it was a movement disorder, caused by the meds. I was then referred to a neurologist.

Please don’t stop your meds. Tell your prescriber as soon as you can, though. Also know that TD doesn’t usually get much worse, overnight.

Yes. One med made it significantly worse. I talked to my pdoc and I switched meds. The movements are not as bad, as when I was on that other med, but they’re still there. I take my meds still, though, because I’d rather not have a psychotic break.

Well, these doesn’t seem like movements to me, as in actual physical movements. However, something is pulling at the left side of the upper lip from the inside-- it is like a vibration from the inside. I can’t think of any other thing than TD because it only happened after taking Haldol for a couple of months.
I could replace the Haldol with Amisulpride. However, without prescription, it is not possible to get the Amisulpride. I don’t want to take Haldol anymore. I am not too sure what to do. It sounds to me like it is the beginning of TD but it is so mild that it may just go away should I stop the Haldol. It is 11 pm at night and there isn’t any doc available right now.

You really should keep taking the Haldol until you talk to your pdoc. Taking it for even a few more weeks shouldn’t be an issue. What would be a real issue, is a psychotic break, which might happen if you stop your meds without working with you pdoc.

Please keep taking your meds until you see your pdoc again. Maybe you could call the pdoc’s office, tomorrow morning, to see if you can talk to them?

Yeah, perhaps I should do that.

be seen.
you may have had a stroke.
are you a heavy smoker?
do you notice extremities affected?

My problem is that the doctor I am seeing is very rude.

I asked her about TD, in fact my mother accompanied me to the doc, my mother was concerned and asked her for the risk of TD with Haldol, and she got so angry-- she was like, why are you asking me this, it is a stupid question, she sent my mother out of the room, and asked her to get therapy. Then she told me that 7.5 mgs is a low dose of Haldol and TD doesn’t happen on that low dose.

She is the rudest doctor I have imagined, I don’t know, if I call her she will probably bury me under the ground for asking about TD again. I will have to find a different doctor and getting the appointment may take a while.

One question I had was that when you got TD, did the lip twitching happen all the time, or did it come and go? IT happens in certain periods and then it goes away.
