Is this disrespectful?

I don’t see any rudeness.
They tried to respect you by asking what you preferred, and you gave them an honest answer.

You are allowed to prefer any name you want, as long as it’s not an obscenity, like “doggydiddler” or something.

I changed my last name in the year 2000 to something long and complicated. Now I wish I hadn’t or I wish I had had it reverted back to my maiden name. A lot of people like my new name though.

My mom’s mom wanted boys but got three girls, so she gave all her daughters boy’s names. My mom goes by her middle name so that she doesn’t have to literally explain the backstory to every single person who asks for her name.

It’s disrespectful, you want to be called the name you told them to be called. Why did they bothered asking you when they do what they do anyway ?
