Eat a half cup of cooked rice with your dinner. It’s not horrible for you (Asians are healthy on their diet) and it will satiate uou
The fish I have is Alaskan pullock is that a good one?
I think so. I only eat tuna which isn’t great. I eat more turkey and chicken and egg whites. I can look into it for you if you’d like.
What kind of diet are you on @LilyoftheValley ?
Another idea is beans. They are a cheap carb but beans are a complex carb so they can keep blood sugar levels steady and fill you up so are less hungry later and they are low in calories.
Oh I do have pinto beans!
I’m eating 1300 calories per day with veggies, fruits, poultry etc. I’m on what they call a low fodmap diet that’s designed for people with IBS. I’m also lactose and gluten free and I’m working with a dietitian
Combine the pinto beans with the rice and you will have a filling low calorie meal that shouldn’t raise your blood sugar too high
I agree with @Vinegar . Beans, rice and veggies is a great option
Okay that’s awesome! I want to start working with a dietitian again. I worked with one to help with my eating disorder but I lost my insurance and had to stop seeing her. But now I have new insurance
That’s great that you may be able to work with one again.
Alaskan pollock is low fat and has more protein than beef and poultry. It has 9 amino acids…. It’s really good for you
I hope I can, in the meantime I’ve been really struggling with my eating disorder. I’ve been binging and purging. If I can control myself and not binge then I don’t have the risk of purging. I pretty much just got rid of all the junk food in my apartment so I wouldn’t be tempted to binge
Ok. I’m no dr but if you binge and purge, going super low in calories is a bad idea because it will encourage to to binge from deprivation. I think you should try eating more like 1600 calories per day
That’s a good point! I’ve just been aiming for as low as possible but at least 1200 to not go too low. But you have a good point maybe I need to eat a little more.
I think coco is right. Can you remember back to how your dietitian told you to eat in the past? If you can remember your dietician’s advice than try to do that. Eating too few calories backfires on us and makes us hungrier so that is why we need more protein.
I think I was on a 1500 calorie diet. I lost weight on that diet but then I got wrapped up in keto then carnivore and it ended badly with me restricting what I ate way too much. So now I’m back to a balanced diet trying to eat a lot of protein and fiber. Maybe I’ll go back to the 1500 calories
I drink 3 protein shakes throughout the day and one actual meal a day. This was approved by my dietician who specializes in GI issues. I have a lot of health issues but they wouldn’t prescribe something that was dangerous.
I use the chocolate whey protein powder as the liquid ones have too much sugar. Generally you want protein shakes low in sugar and high in protein and fiber.
I would sip them slowly, don’t chug. Because it’s liquid your system digests it faster so you aren’t necessarily getting all the protein by drinking it quickly and you get hungry faster. I suggest taking vegetables and small carbs and sprinkling flavorless protein powder on top. It will bind with the food you digest and go through your system slower.
I’m not a dietician this is how I love since having most of my digestive track missing. So maybe it will help you in a small way.
I think 1500 calories with a balanced diet of protein and fiber sounds really healthy. I agree that keto/carnivore backfires for some people and can cause problems.
Yes I think that’s what I will aim to do, I also have to be careful because I am hypoglycemic so if I don’t eat enough protein and complex carbs I can get low blood sugar. I’m also training for a half-marathon and I need fuel for my runs. It’s been hard to train while also doing such a low calorie diet
