Is six hours sleep enough?

Am on 6 hours sleep a day. Feeling pretty good with it. Is this enough though?

Not nearly enough for me. I would be psychotic. I have to have about 10.

Before I got sick I was good with 5 though.

I’d say it is within normal amount.
I know I’d be thrilled.

I could be wrong, but I believe the standard is 8 hours a night. :ox::ox::ox:

No it’s not. You need at least 8 hours of sleep a night. Personally, I need 9.5 hours.

7 to 9 is good. 8 is probably the best.

If you’re not tired, I’d say it was enough. Some days I need ten hours. Other days I only need four or five. I try not to overthink it.

I should maybe clarify. I hope to sleep from 4:30pm to around 12 midnight. This is my best sleep cycle.

This way I get to spend quiet time alone at night and fulfill family obligations through the day.

This is my optimum cycle

6 hours is good enough for me, usually.
I average around 7 hours.

Well, 7-8 hours is recommended for an adult I believe. But not everybody is the same and if you feel OK with sleeping 6 hours and it doesn’t negatively affect you than that’s fine. By the same token, if it takes 9 hours of sleep to function than that’s OK.

Everybody has heard of certain people who can function perfectly fine on 4 hours of sleep a night. You have to figure out what’s right for you.

I get psychotic if I don’t get 10 hours sleep. I’d love to sleep 6 and have more time for activities.

If you’re not feeling ‘off’ having 6 hours then maybe it’s right for you

Sleep needs vary by individual and by age, with teenagers requiring the most and seniors needing the least. Most adults feel rested after 7.5-9 hours, but this is approximate. Activity level, previous sleep debt, diet, caffeine or alcohol use, and medical conditions like depression and sleep apnea can alter your level of fatigue.

You may try to experiment with different time periods to see what your body needs. Sleep many be interrupted by episodes of apnea (breathing stops for a few moments). This would make you feel tired no matter how long you sleep.
