Is Seroquel (Quetiapine) an effective medication

Anyone on seroquel alone. I’ve noticed some people on here on it but they take another antipsychotic with it. It’s just I’m thinking about taking this medication in the future. I was on it once about 12 years ago but I was only on 100mg a day, theres no way that would keep me stable now. So then anyone on seroquel ? I ask because I have heard it’s not as effictive as other medications and that people relapse on it.

As far as I’m concerned, you’ve answered your own question. I relapsed on it, when I was on it on its own.

When I was on it I eventually came off it and was stable for almost 5 years with no meds. It didn’t make me relapse.

Don’t know, 100mg is a sub therapeutic dose for schizophrenia. Everybody’s different and it’s all a bit Russian roulette in my opinion. Personally I have nothing good to say about seroquel. But it might suit you. It literally nearly killed me.

Seroquel causes cataracts so you have to get an eye exam on it. I’m on Latuda if you can afford it there’s very little side effects on Latuda

Seroquel is very sedating and its a weak Antipsychotic - I liked it because it eased my anxiety a bit.

I had to get off of it because it raised my blood glucose levels too much and it messed my thyroid levels.

Everyone reacts differently to it.

both my parents are on Seroquel. my mom for depression and anxiety my dad for schizoaffective disorder. They are just on different doses of it.

Great for anxiety, sleep, depression and mania. Causes weight gain in many, eye problems in a few. Weaker antipsychotic, has to be taken 2x daily, unless you get the extended release. It’s a great adjunct ap(add on), but alone may not get the job done. Very sedating. A weaker reformulation of zyprexa, which is a weaker reformulation of clozaril essentially.

I was on it at 600mg then reduced with support to 400mg, but it wasn’t enough to keep me stable.

So in the end after 3 more anti psychotics I went back to Olanzapine(ZYPREXA)!

I found that seroquel make me thirsty all the time and it just didn’t really blunt the voices as much as other meds.
