Is mental illness a excuse or reason for bizarre behaviour

I hear a lot of people who say mental illness like bipolar and schizophrenia are not reasons to act bizarre and do things you normally wouldn’t do me personally I think it’s a reason the reason why I did alot Of stuff like vandalism and other erratic things was because of my illness I didn’t realize what I did was wrong at the time

No. They put us in Psych Wards and drug us for no particular reason. So start acting right. (I voted otherwise because I know better.)

I’ve always been weird, but it was a more functional weird before.

It depends on what you mean by “behavior”. That conveys a vast array of actions. Scratching your ass is a behavior. So is shooting at the president of the free world. I don’t think you can ever completely exonerate yourself for homicide and battery, and such. Even if you are not legally responsible you still have to be under lock and key.
