Is it common for a GP to ask to see you monthly when you tell him about your dysthymia?

Dysthymia is a mild, chronic form of depression.

I don’t think so, but I’m not a doctor.

If it was a pdoc that would make sense.

dysthymia or anhedonia?

anhedonia is chronic lack of pleasure. so can you be sure if it is depression, dysthymia or negative symptoms?

Pretty sure its dysthymia. I experienced it for years before developing schizophrenia.

If he’s not prescribing you anything for it,

I’d be suspicious.

GPs are really not for chronic conditions, more for common, short term things. Like colds or minor injuries.

I worked for a guy that did this, and he made a ton of money of these “monitoring” appointments.

Just call and ask why he needs to see you, if you don’t get a satisfactory answer, don’t do it.
