Is it a life long disease?

Hello,

I’m writing this post with a question.
The experts I’ve talked too said that the schizoaffective disease, I have, is a life long disease.

Has anyone else had this said to them?
Do you guys think this disease will require medication for life?

Some people do recover without meds. But for the most of us, it’s a life long disease that requires meds for life.

I was diagnosed with schizoaffective disorder bipolar type and my psychiatrist told me recently that I’ll need to take the antipsychotic I’m on for the rest of my life.

Severe mental illnesses are lifelong.
This includes my bipolar disorder.

I’ve been taking psych meds on and off since I was 15 years old.

I’ll soon be 57 years old!

I have to assume it is lifelong. I’m running out of time to get my life in order, and if I have another psychotic episode many bad things could happen.

Thanks for the great responses everyone!

When I told my psych to stop my meds, he told me 95% of those who have psychosis need meds for life.

I got my first psychosis when I smoked weed for the first time. It lasted 2days then I was back to normal. I stopped smoking it and I was ok for a year until symptoms returned and much worse this time which led to my diagnosis.

Well, it’s been forty years and they haven’t found anything yet that will make it go away. And I’m sixty now and it looks pretty certain that I will have it until I die or I become a U.S senator, whichever comes first.

There are a lot of lifelong diseases, and some are even degenerative. People can recover from sz but for many it’s lifelong, but it’s just one of thousands and thousands of diseases that are lifelong.

Hmm. . .

Words Can Be Powerful.

And So Can Thus Illness Be As Such.

A Disease?.

or

Opportunity?.
