Is anyone on an ssri

I was given these by my gp to help with sleep and I actually am feeling a lot better mentally. Maybe I need to talk to a pdoc about this and get on a dose during the day or something. Does anybody else take an ssri and what are your experiences.

Many of us are. I’m on effexor which has another reaction but mostly they are serotonin reuptake inhibitors. They bind with your serotonin and are used mainly for depression and sometimes things like ocd. Schizophrenia and depression are common and if they are helping then yes…talk to your doctor. It sounds like something you don’t want to lose!

I am on Paroxetine 20mg and Fluvoxamine 25mg both taken in the evening, they are to stop my brain from thinking about things all the time, and they work really well.

I’m on Paxil. I haven’t noticed much of an effect from it so far, but they recently doubled my dose. Sometimes I think it is starting to work. I’ll let people know if it has a beneficial effect on me.

Paxil normally works very quickly and most people find 20-30mg is the optimum dose.
If you don’t respond well to Paxil then it is probably not the right medication for you.
Paxil is not particularly good for depression, it works best for anxiety and thought disorders. Don’t just stop taking Paxil however, you must come off it slowly, or cross-taper on to something else.

I tried quite a few years ago, they made me feel better but it seemed “fake”. I didn’t have the normal ups and downs of life, I just felt good all the time. It is hard to explain but after a few weeks I started losing touch with reality and did some really weird things, I haven’t been on them for a good 15 years, I haven’t needed it.

I’ve been on Cipralex and Cymbalta, both of which did not do that much. Currently, I’m trying Wellbutrin for the second time.

Apparently, Cymbalta has been known to be a pretty good anti-depressant since it’s an SNRI. It wasn’t for me, but like I always say; everyone’s different.

I take Zoloft. It has been very good. Some days it even keeps me out of bed.
