Im thing about continuing my education but I’m not sure what I want to do. The only thing I know is I don’t want a degree that takes 4 to 10 years. I’m probably gonna get a part time job at somewhere brick and mortar to overcome my fear of people but eventually I want to get certified in something. Im curious if anyone here works a trade?
I had an exterior building cleaning small business for about 10 years. Pressure washing , softwashing, window and gutter cleaning and roof cleaning.
It was a good gig and i only worked about 6 months worth in the year.
I used to as a journeyman chef, technically making me a tradesperson. Not a career I would recommend because of the low pay and undesirable working conditions (evenings, weekends). I have friends who are journeyman mechanics, carpenters, electricians, etc. They are in demand and paid much better. The hours suck less, too.
I was a landscaper a few times
Had my own business twice for a total of about 7 years
Learned on the job starting out as a labourer for a very well regarded local firm
Really do enjoy it but the only way you can make decent money is being self employed
Decided that I prefer a pay check for my own sanity and to be able to take out a home loan
You could learn framing. It’s easy to learn and pays well.
Farming is rather complicated. The bank system worlds the area that you live in. If you go through the f.F.A for teaching. You’ll get a food in the bank store. If you join a co op. It buys You a little more. Planning a food factory. Require some college degree. Pin down that horrible road. But love it the same.
Framing not farming. Like construction
Hi im a sparky to your service. It’s a well paid job in most countries. Takes 4 years. I did it pre schizophrenia so it was not to hard.
It’s a shame because farming new homes would solve a lot of problems.
In a perfect world we could just farm trees cut em down and build homes but… Bill gates owns like 80% of the land ok late gripe of the year I swear
I’m not but my mum needs one specializing in joist and ceilings. I’m going to ask an ex builder I met in the day centre if he knows someone.
I would train in a community college how to do Super CADD drafting on the computer…they pay well and it’s an indoor job. you can work for architects and builders.
I’ve done trade work for a job, but I wouldn’t call myself a tradesman. It was mostly electrical and HVAC work, but I helped with some concrete and moving buildings. I would definitely consider doing it after my church service mission, but for now I think I’m keeping options available. Better to follow opportunity and ability than simply just your passion.
