Yeah well done on getting out. I guess to me it’s like about probability. Like flying in a plane is dangerous too but it’s very, very rare anything bad happens. Your more likely to get hit by a car walking than you are flying but there’s that risk. I think it’s about trying to conquer these sorts of fears when your out. It’s very much a product of anxiety and important to bring it up with your therapist.
Like it’s in the realms of catastrophic thinking but I think it’s pretty common for those who have anxiety from what I’ve seen.
Yeah, I agree with @rogueone; you gotta play the odds. The chances of a mass shooting are pretty slim. And look at it this way, when you’re out somewhere you’re taking the same chance as everybody else there but that’s not stopping all those people from having fun. I mean you can’t think of every bad thing that could happen or you would never leave your house. You can’t worry all the time about dying in a car wreck or getting struck by lightening or getting hit by a meteor; you just take normal, everyday precautions and go out and have fun.
Open mic? Is that when you can get up in front of the audience and do something like a comedy bit or perform a musical instrument? I would like that, eventually, right now I make too many mistakes playing.
I don’t have that exact fear, but I have irrational fears often. Sometimes they last a few weeks, but unfortunately, they usually last for a couple years or are lifelong. I consider it a part of my ocd because it often results in a ritual to cope with the fear. I have had fears that have disappeared overnight, ending the ritual, and becoming a memory several times though. So I try not to get upset and hope for the best.
I’ve had that too. I thought people were going to kill everyone but that they were sending signals to each other to do it (holding hands, nodding, other seemingly normal things). Terrible feeling, but I’m glad you were able to push through it.
Your not a machine that can carbon copy songs. If you make mistakes, just try to make them sound like they belong, and then weave your way back into the musical piece.
I have this problem with elevators, airplanes, I used to get it from going over bridges…it comes and goes…when I got into new age positivity I started thinking that any negative thoughts I had would cause something bad to happen. also not true/my reality does not influence other peoples realities–but how we interact does matter and so i try to be the best i can on the outside.
