Impact of Physical, Sexual, and Emotional Abuse

Several studies show there is a correlation between physical/emotional/sexual abuse or trauma and schizophrenia.

All three but more so the emotional than the other two. The abuse came right before the onset. I believe I had genes that were triggered by trauma

No sexual abuse…but I remember older woman trying to trade me gum for kisses or licking my face when I was like 8…but if anything it made me like woman more…so I got beat and belittled

all three here… but I have no memory of the physical abuse from my father. I remember him shooting my mom and hanging my brother up by the telecord. But the pyschs said I blocked out my abuse as it was too painful.

Thinking it is kinda crappy that I have memories of things that people say didn’t happen, and no memory of what they say did.

It doesn’t surprise me that abuse can trigger schizophrenia (this is a mental illness, which is part biological part experiential, after all), but it still saddens me to see these numbers and hear these personal stories. I hope everyone finds love and acceptance on these boards and in their everyday lives, too.

During confabulation I thought these kind of things happen I felt so bad I was very suicidal i did a whole lot of things and ended up undiagnosed in jail and hospital. only recently have I found out that sexual abuse and rape never happend and that the emotions attached to them were of a spiritual nature.
