I'm thrown

I’m thrown(executive functioning?). I have microwave potatoes that need to go in the microwave for 7.5 minutes and veg that need to go in it for 2.5 minutes. If I put the potatoes in first and then the veg when there’s 2.5 minutes to go that will be added weight which affects the cooking time for both.

I’m flummoxed as to how to get round this one. Posted here as EF difficulties are all too common with ASD and with severe mental illness .

You can always give them the recommended time, and then check afterwards to see if they’re warm enough. If they’re not, give them a little more time

Put the potatoes in for 7.5 minutes. Take them out. Put the veg in for 2.5 minutes. Take them out. The potatoes will still be hot when the veg is ready, and you can use the 2.5 minutes to add anything to the potatoes if you need to (butter, etc.).

Thanks. Meal was a bit of a disaster. Cooked veg for the stated 2.5 minutes they were still really crunchy. Cooked for another 2.5 minutes still rather crunchy . Cooked for 6 minutes in total and then plated them. They were still crunchy. I ate the chicken and the potatoes and left most of the still rather crunchy veg.
