Im starting to get angry

What’s the word? Did you get the insulin?

I’m so sorry they haven’t sorted this out by now. I’m hoping it gets sorted tomorrow. Three things:

  1. Drink plenty of water frequently to flush the sugar out of your system.
  2. Exercise for 15 minutes after every meal
  3. Watch very very closely for signs of DKA. Any signs like frequent urination, thirst, blurry vision, vomiting go to ER immediately.

I would cut your carb intake severely until then. I’d do like 60 grams of carbs per meal at the most. Eat a lot of eggs and oatmeal with a sprinkle of cinnamon and that will help keep your blood sugar from spiking.

Thoughts and hugs sent your way.

All due respects but, the poor pharmacy technicians and pharmacists have no control over the manufacture and shipment of your insulin. That’s the responsibility of the pharmaceutical company @Bowens. Why don’t you call them? Talk to their CEO? Or per email?

All due respects, but they had the prescription for the second insulin Friday the 26th, which is what they ended up filling on Tuesday the 2nd. They couldve done that a week earlier and I wouldve had insulin.

If you wouldve read the entire thread you would see that I talked to the actual pharmacist on the 26th twice. I talked to her in person and on the phone. When I talked to her she said she would sort it out with the Dr. Instead it appears she just ignored it and moved on with her day.

I tried to get it 2 times after thanksgiving(the 27th) and they still said they couldnt get it.

I finally contacted my doc, and the pharmacy yesterday again and they just filled the prescription that my doc had sent on the 26th.

According to the pharmacy guy I talked to , they had Lantus on hand. They just couldnt get my old insulin(glargine), which was on backorder.

Lantus is what I ended up getting , which is what my doc prescribed a week ago.

Edit: AND I had been trying to get some form of insulin since the 21st. First friday they told me they would have it on MOnday….when I went in on Monday they told me it was on backorder. Contacted doctor….she sent new prescription on 26th which they didnt fill until I called again on the 2nd. I had beeen in 2 times before that between the 26th and then………

I understand that they cant get me something they cant order, BUT they got me the Lantus on the 2nd for 35 dollars for four pens, which couldve been done the week before and I wouldnt have had to have worry about it for a week and drive to the pharmacy a half dozen times.

Apparently they didnt fill it because the second insulin wasnt covered by my insurance. I found that out when I talked to tech yesterday. However, the same manufacturers deal where I could get it for 35 was available a week earlier , when my doc prescribed it in the first place.

P.S. I dont solely blame the pharmacy for this. I also blame insurance for only covering one insulin that does not have a reliable supply and I blame the manufacturer for not living up to its responsibilities of reliably providing something that people NEED, not want. I also am not thrilled that the manufacturer has a high prevelance of defective pens. One of these defective pens was the reason I ran out in the first place. If they cant provide a reliable supply of insulin maybe they shouldnt be a manufacturer that diabetics rely on for their survival because insurance will go the cheap route. And they are the low bid.

Also, why didnt they tell me all this the first time I came in on the 21st of November? If they wouldve explained to me that they needed me to get a new prescription and use the manufacturers deal then, I couldve gotten the replacement insulin before Thanksgiving.

Sorry, this was just a huge ■■■■■■■■■■■ that was primarily on the pharmacies shoulders.

I wanted to know about this too. Great news. But what a fuss just to get some life-saving medicine that they know you need!

Pharmacies here will get a prescription, and then order the meds in as they don’t carry “all” medicine all the time. And thats to save money, primarily. Hence why folks here may have to wait 24-48hr for meds once the pharmacy gets the script. Its ridiculous.

I always keep a spare supply in case (my sleeping pills)! Glad you got it sorted without ending up in hospital…

I’m so glad you got your insulin. I was very worried. You didn’t do anything wrong. The medical field failed you. That happens more than they care to admit for sure.

I sympathize Mr. @Bowens. So sorry you have to go through all this. Are you diabetic type I or 2 ?

Do you mind my asking, are you overweight or are you within normal weight range? If you are overweight, sometimes losing weight, keeping it off and exercise can help control diabetes more naturally.

I don’t want to be one to make you more angry but what I say. I have a quote that helps me lately. It was said by a famous baseball player many years ago. “When you’re going through Hell, keep going.” I am so sorry you have this serious problem. I know you are suffering.
