I'm really not as smart as people think I am

I would appreciate any feedback I can get on this.

I just have extreme difficult grasping science. It’s like my cognition and memory can’t grasp it.

When it comes to things like philosophy, religion, and mysticism, my brain eats that stuff up like a sponge to water. Ha!

But mysticism doesn’t pay the bills, and I can’t think of any college that offers that as a major/or course of study.

But thank you for reading my drivel and Blessings!

How about applying philosophy, religion and mysticism to science?

Hi there @anon17132524  thank you for the reply.

I wish there was a way I could combine the 2 worlds. But science is only concerned with what can be seen with our sight (human sense).

And philosophy etc. is more concerned with beliefs and ideas.

And beliefs and ideas cannot be put under a magnifying glass and literally seen. They’re only grasped.

I like your idea though, I will continue to pontificate on this.

Take care!

People have different areas that they are good at. I was poor at history stuff, but good at other areas.
It is obvious they require different skills and abilities. I was told that psychology has both characteristics science and humanity, but it is more like science these days. I hope you make a good choice.

Re the thread title- I really get that. I’m like an intellectual curate’s egg ie clever in parts and dumb in others. Most people don’t get to see, or they overlook, the dumb parts.

I understand what you mean @firemonkey. I think sometimes people can perceive someone or even something a certain way, but we know our own limitations.

Thank you for replying to my thread. I gotta say though that you do amazing research, and you post a lot of amazing articles and viewpoints.

I highly value your contributions to the forum. Take care. :v:

Everybody is smArt the same . Just one people work harder then others and are better at other stuff . Maybe you don’t put enough efforts or study what’s not your level…study until you can grasp it easy… nothing is easy in this world

No amount of effort can totally compensate for a glaring lack of aptitude at something. It can’t always be put down to lack of effort or laziness. Such simplistic thinking negates and trivialises people’s very real difficulties.

One shouldn’t focus on difficulties and focus on work

I’m not as smart as I look but I’m also not as dumb as I look.

Stem pays the bills. Stick with engineering or CS. I’d stay away from physics or math.

Physics is hard. But just put like 10000 hours into it and you’ll be an expert at it.

What about business?

Man, don’t worry. You seem pretty sharp. Before the illness I was considered very intelligent, nowadays I don’t feel that way at all. I feel like a waste of potential in that regard. I had a high IQ and it led me to having delusions of persecution. Like the government was out to get me. Now I think I have average IQ and don’t feel very smart. Maybe it’s the illness. Don’t worry though Montezuma. I think you’ll do well in college. All you have to do is apply yourself and work at it.

It may be off the subject but speaking of mysticism my daughter makes a living working three days a week reading tarot cards. She charges $60 a half hour.

Hi everyone, I’m feeling a little better today. With the exception of a couple lab problems I’ve already done all my homework.

@insidemind I do entertain the idea of getting a basic business administration degree.

@anon40653964 No worries dude. Everyone is smart in their own way.

I was in Salem, Mass over the winter and got all swept up in the witchcraft theme and bought a pack of tarot cards in one of the occult shops. It came with a little booklet explaining what all the cards meant and how to analyze them. I tried to use them with my friend and man, it was hard! It really takes some skill. That’s cool that your daughter can do that.

What you said really helped me. Thanks.

I really hit a plateau in college. I worked my butt off and got C’s. I made so many mistakes/errors and had memory loss. I think some people are just smarter than others.

@insidemind What were you studying ? I studied engineering at university and failed. If I’d studied computer science I would have come top of my class.

That’s not an idle boast as I built a career in I.T. before I was diagnosed and took to it like a fish to water.

Engineering is just mathematics. Which is why I failed. You did quite well getting C’s in pure mathematics as far as I’m concerned !
