Im not sure whether to be upset or laugh at this

I went to church with my Fiance last Sunday. A pastor who is not the main pastor kind of guest spoke after some initial announcements.

Anywho, the guy kind of went on and on a bit. He seemed like he was going to wrap up finally after a long time and it was getting late. Probably 20 mins after the service shouldve been over. But then he came back to the podium to say something else.

My fiance totally said “Jesus Christ!” really loud in the middle of the church. Now, my fiance is a very religious person and this surprised me quite a bit that she would shout that in the middle of a church service.

Afterworrds, while we were walking out with the other people, she also was talking about how long winded that pastor was. I’m thinking “umm…you realize you are saying this and everyone walking out can hear you”

Anyway, it was definitely an inappropriate thing to do in church and I was pretty stunned that she would do that.

But there is just a tinge of humor after the fact just at the boldness and inappropriateness of it all.

You cant help but laugh a little…kinda like craning your neck at a car wreck when driving by.

Anyway, I hope this post is ok. It in no way promotes or demeans religion in any way. Just a story of what happened, so I believe it should be ok.

Haha I’m Catholic and there have been times where I wanted to do the same. Some priests are just long winded. Some are aware of it and even make jokes about it and would say something like “be patient the post service donuts will still be there.”

My 2nd ever job was a cashier position at a grocery store. On my final shift as a employee there, I was walking up to my cash register and a little kid, maybe 6 or 7 years old, was pressing all the buttons on my cash register. While his mom was doing absolutely nothing about it. I got mad and said “JESUS CHRIST! WATCH YOUR CHILD” the mother got super mad and told my manager. Me and my manager talked and both agreed it was time for me to stop working there. Thats a true story.

I stopped going into churches. The bursting into flames thing is painful and then there’s the issue with holy water. No thank you.

Hey, you are always looking at ways to lose weight. Nothing like a brief stop in to melt away some pounds.

Yes, but it ruins the smell of bacon cooking for me.

How loud was it?
I don’t know but that might be a deal breaker for me.
I mean on marriage.
Sounds completely inappropriate and I would have been very embarrassed.

But obviously im not you @Bowens

It was loud enough. Probably not quite a shout but louder than normal speaking level.

Oh I’m sorry, I thought it was a yell.
That’s not so bad
My apologies @Bowens

No apologies necessary. It doesnt take much for the entire church to hear it when no one but the pastor is speaking. Everyone in there could have heard it, for all I know. Fortunately, probably only the people seated nearby knew who said it.

Its not like she stood up and pointed at him and screamed it. But it was pretty bad still. If I go with her the next time I am going to tell her “now, no cursing during the service, please”. lol.

No thank you. The last time I walked into a church without bursting into flame I walked out as a Mormon. That was worse.

Orthodox christian masses routinely last 3 hours, sometimes longer. I go to church on Sundays but only stay for about 30 minutes at most. Elderly people often have enough patience to listen to all of it. Mothers shushing their noisy toddlers is a common occurrence. I’ve yet to see an adult disturb the service though.
