If you have depersonalization / derealisation - how do you cope?

I had a frightening attack of depersonalization this noon.

I went to the supermarket and on the way my mind disappeared completely from my body. I had to return to my apartment. My body was giddy and my mind blank. It was terrible, i was on the verge of fainting (has happened before)

As soon as I came back to my apartement my mind landed in my body again.

I used to have DP/DR really bad. It started after I had my first panic attack that brought me to the hospital.

Sounds really frightening :anguished:

Just a thought I had while reading your post:

Could you maybe carry something small with you to ground you in case it happens again when you’re away from home?

Just curious if you think that’d work for you.

When I go to Costco there are tons of people. I feel like they’re not real and I’m not real. I get what I need and leave then I feel better later in the day.

I started getting better after my health anxiety improved. It was really hard to cope with when I had it.

Time is your friend. It will improve.

Thanks @Schztuna and @TheCanuk - yes i might take a bottle of water with me, i noticed i suddenly got a very dry mouth og throat, and yes @2Waynez it feels like nothing is real. I always have it in a degree when i’m in a crowd, like my subjectivity, or sense of self is threatened,
