If you don't drive, why not?

I was wondering why some of us don’t drive. Is it because of the medication or maybe anxiety? My husband told me that in Britain it’s illegal to drive while on antipsychotics. Is this true?

I still have constant audial hallucinations so I’m the definition of a distracted driver. Plus I doubt I could save up enough to buy a reliable car.

I ride my bicycle, I have no car and I do not really want a car, my town is little and it is easy to ride my bicycle to different places, we have good bicycle paths.

I have not drove for about 4 years, I can’t concentrate for long and my reaction times are slow, so I would be a danger to others, I still have my driving licence but I don’t think I will drive again.

I live in the city so I’m near everything I could need. And it is expensive to have a car, insurance, petrol, etc. But my mother never learned to drive so I’m not the only one in my family.

I don’t drive because I have neurocardiogenic syncope and sometimes still have visual hallucinations. I do technically have my licence, though. I keep it for emergencies because while it’s not a great idea for me to drive, I can.

I’m just starting to drive again after two year break. I was too anxious to drive. too sleepy, too many meds. Now I can sometimes and it feels great.

I dont drive anymore due to paranoia and meds.

No. As long as you’ve been stable for a few months without certain psychotics symptoms or med side effects you can drive

I drive and I like to drive fast. I’ve even spent an hour in a race track with my car, now that was an experience (lots of other cars passing)

I have the exact same problem. I’d start to daydream instead of concentrating on the road. So basically I don’t drive due to concentration issues.

I have vision problems that make it difficult to judge distances plus being on SSI makes owning a car difficult financially. I haven’t driven in over 20 years.

I haven’t driven in the past two years because my car insurance was cancelled. I have concentration problems. I daydream while driving and I don’t pay attention to the road or other cars on the road. I have depth perception problems and can’t measure distances between myself and other cars. I have memory problems and get lost on the road. Plus, I’m too afraid to drive anymore.

I don’t drive because I’m very easily distracted, plus I’m very scared of getting in an accident and dying.

I don’t drive because I have lived in an assisted living center for the mentally ill for the past sixteen years. If I had a car and a liscence it would be tempting to drive to the liquor store. As it is, it is much easier to forgo the alcohol because I would have to hitch hike six miles to get it.
