Idiomatic expressions

I struggle to see the big picture a lot.

My mom used to say when I was a kid that I didn’t see the forrest for the trees.

I get stuck on the details.

She also used to say don’t throw out the baby with the bathwater.

I make hasty decisions I later regret.

I didn’t understand either of those idioms at the time, but at 42 I look back and realize she’s right of course.

It took me a long time to understand these things about myself.

Can anyone relate? Is there something it took you a while to realize about yourself?

“No man is an island :desert_island:”. That would be my idiom.

It took my first hospitalisation to make me realise that I wasn’t able to do everything I wanted to do on my own.
