I told my friend that my psychiatric care provider hired a new woman who said she is an Administrator. I thought maybe she was going to take over the administrative duties of the psychiatrist so he could spend more time with the patients. The only psychiatrist left is 56 years old. I don’t know what’s going to happen if and when he retires. I think she called him and asked about it. He has the emergency cell phone now. It used to rotate between the case managers.
If the psychiatrist retires and my psychiatric care provider goes out of business, I may have to go off meds.
I think you’ll be alright. Are there not anymore psychiatrists where you live?
Side note: that’s cool your pdoc has the emergency cell phone. He must really care.
There’s a few. It’s mostly a transportation issue.
The transportation issue is having arthritis and having trouble getting around. I need a pdoc on a bus stop without a lot of walking.
Start researching other options now before you run into that hurdle. I know things change quickly but it’s worthwhile dealing with future issues as early as possible for better outcomes.
Thanks rogueone. I’ve been trying to look into it. Right Now there’s a pdoc four miles away on a bus stop, but there will probably be more walking involved. With only four miles Uber would probably be affordable, if I was seeing him once or twice a month.
Right now I see a therapist and have group therapy once a week. I only see the pdoc as needed.
I’m going to think positively. If my psychiatrist retires maybe they will hire a new one and not go out of business.
Is it possible to get your meds from a regular Dr?
My current one won’t, but I could maybe find one.
