I want to get out of Vegas

My husband and I both were going to move to Oregon before we met each other and stayed in Vegas. My brother and sister live in Oregon with all my nieces and nephews. I have only met one of them when she was only a couple months old. My husband and I are both in school so it’s going to be awhile til we get out of this crazy city. But I have faith that we will.

Some people love Vegas. I’m not one of those people.

Oregon is pretty awesome. Especially southern Oregon. Portland and right by Portland are almost unaffordable. Rents are increasing the maximum allowed by law every year. It’s awful. So many people are moving here the market can’t keep up and we have a huge homeless population because of it.

Yeah I never liked it. I like how most of my family is here. I will miss them. But ever since my diagnosis I learned to hate it. There are way to many freaking people for schizophrenic me

That’s my biggest concern is the rent. My sister lives in Bend and my brother lives in Sisters. I am always seeing all the fun things that they do together and with their kids. They don’t have a lot of money but they are both so happy. Ive only been there once but it’s so beautiful.

I live in California. Too many people, expensive, air pollution, and high crime. At least we get good benefits here. Oregon sounds cool.

I was born in California and lived there until I was five. I go there every few years.

“increasing rents”

Sounds like where I live.

A graduated medical doctor finished residency starting salary at a local hospital is estimated at 40k per yr.

The average rent here is 1k per month not including manditory fees or any utilities. (really about 1,200. per month, this is for a 1bdrm)

Everyone must make 3 times the rent to qualify for any apartment.

Doctors, new doctors, can barely qualify as they/we need income of at least 36k per yr.
Only 4k difference.

The rents are still rising by the month. Many have doubled up occupancy to afford them. Most of my nieghbors have 4 to 6 people living in a 1bdrm.(but most of them 4 each.)

If I had the money and ability, I would move to Washington. But I get depressed when it rains so I’ll be stuck in California for awhile.

Portland is a big turn off for me. Is it really like Portlandia?
