I think I may be falling apart 😜

First my teeth. Then my back. Then my potential start of dementia.
No worries folks. Soon my teeth and back will be fixed.
As far as dementia well it could be a fun ride.

What the fu ck? Dementia? You’re only 50. Plus, dementia, like psychosis, isn’t a disease but a symptom.

Did a doctor tell you that you may have it? Did they run tests? Have they identified a potential cause? Are they looking for one? How do they know it’s not just cognitive symptoms?

They are going to do some cognitive testing in may or June

Okay, I see. In the meantime, I recommend keep working your mind out, keep social, eat good food, get some exercise each day. These are things that help slow the progression of dementia.

The worst one for me is when I couldn’t find my house. I was so terrified.

I find I’m forgetting a lot of my past and what makes me,me.

I understand that. The other thing that really bugs me is now when the kids ask me to spell something I have so much difficulty. I’ve never had trouble with that.

Dementia is a diasese. Dementia is also a symtoms of alzheimer’s diasese.

Psychosis is a group of diaseses.

@FatMama
You have kids right? Did your kids leave recently from home, leaving you alone?
This might cause your sense of worth to slowly fading
Do you forget things?
That’s totaly normal for you’re age
Do you stay at home most of the time?
That can also decrease you’re sense of worth. That’s the facts.
Are you worried about the future?
It’s totally normal.

About dementia, it’s a organic neurodegenerative diasese (not mentall illness) it’s slowly evolves in a year or two until you can’t recognize normal objects or important persons in your life.

The treatment is… Guess what… Antipsychitics usually (low doses)

Do you had family members with dementia?

Manny questions I know

Edit : you won’t normally observe the start of dementia, pacients are not aware they’re ill. The fact that you worry about it makes it less likely

No:

Dementia is not a specific disease. It’s an overall term that describes a group of symptoms associated with a decline in memory or other thinking skills severe enough to reduce a person’s ability to perform everyday activities.

No, that’s “psychotic disorders”

Psychosis is a symptom, not an illness

First of all, I have no such personality. I don’t understand why you’re attacking me. We’ve never spoken before now, I didn’t even know you existed; you don’t know me. I can be pretty arrogant at times, that’s true, but I always admit when I’m wrong; I apologize and move on; but I refuse to admit to being wrong when I’m not, sorry.

That said, how is the Alzheimer’s Association nonsense? How is NAMI nonsense? These are highly credible sources. What country are you in? Also, did you even read the articles? I didn’t change anything. I literally copy pasted from the article and put it in a block quote.

Since you don’t seem to be an idiot (seriously, not everyone can do med school; that takes some serious intelligence, so I’m impressed), I’m going to assume that you translated the article into a different language and that google’s translation fu cked it up (google translate sucks, but it’s still the best translation service, unfortunately). Is that an accurate assumption?

edit: Like, seriously, each quote is near the beginning of each article:

I see. Psychotic disorder or psychotic episode it is a diasese, I didn’t understand the term psychosis used as a characteristic of a symtom. This is the language barrier

But dementia It is a diasese with multiple symtoms, I dont know how American literature describe it these days but it exists outside alzheimer’s or delirium.

Yes, that is true. I see what you’re saying, probably the language barrier. You see, in the US, a disease cannot be the direct result of a physical injury. Therefore, dementia cannot be classified as a disease. It is the result of a physical problem, be it a stroke, traumatic brain injury (TBI), Alzheimers, lewy bodies, epilepsy; I’ve even read that schizophrenia can cause dementia, though it was just one study so it’s not confirmed.

And yes, psychosis is a state of mind, while a psychotic disorder is a diagnosis.

Try not to be so hard on yourself. Enjoy your kids. Work on recovery. You’ll be okay.

Can I just say thank you? Usually, when I try to have a civil discussion with people, they accuse me of trying to start drama or fights because I disagree with them. You didn’t do that. We came to an understanding. I appreciate that, and it was really nice talking with you. Take care!
