I sold a long commentary about schizophrenia to a newspaper

After I dropped my career as an author of novels, I have written pieces about schizophrenia for papers instead.

In the new commentary I state some facts about schizophrenia, a lot about negative symptoms since the public is not aware of these, they only think of schizophrenia as a psychotic disorder, but it’s often the negatives that cause a poor living among schizophrenics.

I also write about schizophrenia as a “self disorder” (inspired by phenomenology).

Finally I write about stigmatization, i find that it is pleasantly decreasing in the public but it’s still there. Every time I have applied for a job, I write that I have had depression in the past, not that I’m schizophrenic. It is often like we have to hide our illness or at the worst be shameful about this neuropsychiatric disorder.

Im really looking forward to see it on print

Sorry for my late answer @SkinnyMe - i was first diagnosed paranoid schizophrenia, then i was diagnosed with SZA and then for a long period i was schizotypal and now they say im frank schizophrenic

I think i best fit into either SZA or schizotypal, but i don’t care that much about what they call me

This sounds fascinating can you elaborate?

@FreeLunch . Yes of course, I use myself as an example. Sometimes I experience the presence in my mind of an old man with a panamahat who speaks to me very rudely and condescending and tells me to self harm myself. If i had a stable, solid self, my being wouldn’t be so fragile that i experience a stranger intruding in my mind
