Zyprexa could be to blame, I took it as far back as 1996. I recently resumed taking it at half as much. I think it might be age -related for though I look so young I’m really 52, lol. There’s no answer to this problem. I just can’t sleep the whole night and need it in the morning! It sucks. It sucks for the doctors whose appointment I miss, lol. So I don’t do anything I don’t want and my pdoc hates it but she lacks empathy receptivity.
Are you taking it at night? I think most do so.
Yes, I take it at eight pm and it helps me sleep but not when I’ve been up all day.
It seems that melatonin helps with circadian rhythm. For me it helps to be somewhat tired physically and mentally. Having a confortable bed. Having a clean sleeping room (not me) dedicated exclusively to rest.
Melatonin doesn’t work for me. I have a bed in my living room, it’s a one room apartment, I wash my sheets every week but I like to sleep on top of them. I keep my room cold year round and it helps with sleep. I use a summer blanket in summer and a wool blanket in winter.
I know how you feel. My sleep is FUBAR.
Do you have a bedtime routine? I find that I sleep better when I adhere to mine (take two melatonin, have a cup of green tea, and turn in).
No, I don’t have many routines. I like to get up before dawn and relax before starting my day but don’t do that but half the time because of my sleep disorder. I also have the routine of eating dinner at five like in the hospital. It’s important to take medicine at the same time, 8:00 pm for me. Morning meds time change. I like to play guitar at seven a.m. So I guess I do have a few routines.
I am doing a little better sleeping. I cut way down on caffeine and have been doing a lot of stretching for my back. For me my joint pain seems to be the main source of my anxiety at night (not that there isn’t a lot of other crap going on too)
Eating at night is another current roadblock. If I eat too much then I get constipated at like 3am and really dont get back to sleep unless I have a good bm.
I am 55 and a lot of this stuff is pretty common even with my friends who don’t take psychotropic meds.
My psydoc originally wanted me to take my full 3mg dose of risperdal at night but it used to give a bad sinus headache in the morning so now I space it out through the day.
I started using my Fitbit again and really like the Sleep Score feature. I can see an average improvement of about 5 pts in the past couple months.
I like your username. A trick I learned about writing or speaking is to say it plainly and also to not insist on perfect sense and the words get unblocked. IDK it may not work for you.
What is FUBAR? 15
