I really want to get a cat and a dog in the future

But will they get on?

I was worried it might trigger my sz. (the noises whilst I’m sleeping or trying to sleep)

But it might not.

So I need to factor that in too.

I’m sure I can find a lovely family to care for them if I get triggered too much. But what if I can’t?

What do you peeps think?

I think you need to be ready to keep your pets their whole lives. Being sent elsewhere to live after being part of a family is really hard on them. They’re sad, confused and they grieve. Just be really sure first before you adopt a pet

Don’t adopt a pet unless you’re able to make a lifetime commitment - that’s what they deserve. Also, don’t adopt one if you can’t afford its basic needs.

Cats are a lot easier with SZ in my opinion. With dogs you have to walk them, take them outside, etc. If you’re agoraphobic or have avolition at all it’s a bad idea. I had to rehome my dog when I got sick but I had pretty severe agoraphobia back then.

They are lots of work. I bought a dog and now rely on my dad to do most of the work. I dont walk her or feed her dinner. The most i do is get up with her at night and in the morning. But she still wakes my dad up.

She also triggered paranoia when id be home alone with her. It still does from time to time. Its different when you feel responsibility for something. It changes how you think.

I am not going to reproduce…

No space to adopt or foster a child

But, I can give a dog a decent life!

Allllso. I cant handle the barking. It stresses me out. Bella is a real talker. The most talkative dog we have ever had. Its cute but its loud and bothers me as most loud noises do. If i could go back i probably would not have got her and opted for a bulldog. Shes a lab and needs constant exercise. Luckily my dad is really caring and plays with her.

Im not going to reproduce either. But puppies are a lot like children. They need constant attention.

Yea I don’t wanna reproduce either.

Dogs are a lot of work

I am in no shape to take care of a dog right now.

Raising a puppy is very draining, I nearly became completely destabilized with my last lab puppy.

Although cats are work for me I find the entire process a lot easier and more relaxing than taking care of a canine

It’s just I don’t want a cat if I can’t have a dog. I think a cat is boring if she can’t fight with a dog. But yea I definitely see where you are coming from. Perhaps I’ll change my mind in the future about no pet and just get a cat :disappointed: but I don’t see that happening so I have to stick with my beanie babies this is just so so so so so sad. I really need pets. For instance how there’s ‘disability support animals’ I think they are called. Idk maybe that’s okay. Will need to look into that.

I barely can take care of myself… I wouldn´t be able to take care of them in the long run. You need to think about that aswell.

Yea good point. What can I really look after? Certainly not a son or daughter. But maybe if I feel differently in the future perhaps pets is okay if I can look after myself more ‘better’.

It is great that you are being thoughtful about that. Wishing u well.

Yeah I would love to have a dog and experience that unconditional love dog owners experience, but I don´t take care of myself too well atm

This is called abuse when you purposefully try to cause animals to fight.

Please don’t get pets.
