One of my closest friends has been struggling with alcoholism. I have helped him when I can and he’s gone through rehab a few times and AA a few times a week.
Just recently he fell off the wagon and i am just not in a place to help him.
He’s married and i love his wife. He talks sexually to me that really makes sick. His wife already has the divorce papers drawn up but is waiting to see what happens.
I feel overwhelmed but I don’t know how to help them and not lose myself

I’m not sure you can help him. He really has to help himself. I’m an alcoholic (4.5 years sober). All people can really do is stand back and let him hit rock bottom. Then he’ll hopefully take AA and/or rehab seriously.
Alcohol takes its toll on everybody.
You could visit https://al-anon.org for more advice. It’s for people affected by alchoholics.

He’s been my friend since high school so I really find it hard to let go but i know i have to step back. I feel sad

Be strong but subltle. Dont budge on your decision to not be sexual with him, and also on your decision to help him. Thats what I would do anyway
