This basically. I’ve been doing it for 5 months and my treatment team keep saying that it’s just anxiety and will get better but it hasn’t. I fantasise about having an accident on the way to work so I don’t have to go in.
I work in a shop doing the stock and deliveries so it’s quite physical and my back and knees are in agony since starting and I’ve had to start taking tramadol for what they suspect is arthritis (have xray booked). I dread the pain every time I go to work. The tramadol only slightly takes the edge of it.
I live in a very rural area so it’s very limited in terms of jobs, otherwise I’d try a different one.
I dare not contemplate about having an injury at work or else I can’t get paid and pay off my car. Similar to you, my lower back and legs hurt somewhat but I still keep on going finishing my pallet order.
In the end, it’s your call as we all here on the forum have different perspectives and views on your situation.
@houseofstark Thanks, I’m signed up for alerts with indeed. I live in a very rural old coal mining area of the UK with little prospects for employment. I can’t afford to move. I don’t have my own transport at the moment either.
@anon5716216, oddly, last night after writing this post I fell off a stool at work and landed with all my weight on my left buttock! Thank goodness I’m off today and tomorrow as I’m in agony. I still agreed to work overtime next week and now I’m kicking myself.
I too have the option to work overtime at the warehouse. Usually during the week prior to statutory holidays and the holiday itself does the company offer overtime. The pay is 1.5x for the first 2 hours of overtime and 2x for the next 2 hours. In total, I can only work 11 hours a day. Working overtime on the weekends is also possible for me.
If you’re in so much pain that you’re on Tramadol, I think it says that you need to be done with this job as soon as it’s feasible. Is moving to a better area an option?
Maybe you could get a back brace and a knee brace. See if that helps. You might could get your company to pay for it because they would be likely to get a tax break if they reported it as the cost of accommodating a disabled person in their business. You might think about it.
@Joker, I do get some PRN diazepam, but only 14 per month, so it’s on a ration, but I agree, it’s a good way to get you through tough times!
@shutterbug, I live with my partner in our own house and we are both on low incomes. We just can’t afford to move and he wouldn’t want to anyway. I agree though, having to take the tramdol isn’t good and my mum thinks I should quit and claim ESA.
@Daze, I do Yoga in the mornings and it’s very good for me mentally. I had a kidney removed a few years ago and so Alleve is a bad choice as regular use affects kidney function.
@Crimby, I might get some sort of support after I’ve seen physio and the consultant, but there’s a long waiting list round here, I already ticked the disability box for my sz and they know that I have a mental health problem, although I didn’t disclose sz.
@TomCat , The arthritis isn’t just from work, but if I can claim on anything, I will!
@Loke, tbh I was lucky to get this job so close to home. Jobs are very thin on the ground around here.
