I never do this

I don’t think I’ve ever bought a cake for just myself in my entire life. Desserts were scarce in our household when I was growing up. We would have a half gallon of the cheap ice cream often, which was about $1.50 when I was a kid or my dad would occasionally buy his favorite cookies for all of us. But it wasn’t like my friends family who always had cookies in the cupboard and ice cream in the freezer at all times. I used to envy him for that… Dessert was a huge treat for us. And I think it unconsciously affects me today. I have lived on my own for years and I love sweets but I don’t keep them around.

So I looked online for the best bakeries near me, and tomorrow I’m going to be decadent and treat myself to the best cake, pie, pastry etc. without worrying about prices. I’m going to buy whatever I want.
Time to walk on the wild side, push the envelope and live on the edge.

It was the same for me growing up; dessert was a rare treat. I sometimes eat donuts at work, mainly because they don’t cost me anything, and once in a great while I’ll buy a candy bar, but that’s about it.

We had cookies and Little Debbie cakes sometimes growing up. My mom would make the occasional batch of chocolate oatmeal cookies. But i really don’t have much of a sweet tooth. I am fine doing without it.

I love bakery cake. They buy one the first of every month here. I get to have just a slice and I feel decadent with that. Enjoy.
