I need your opinion on this!

Well, I didn’t take olanzapine yesterday. Today I cleaned my bathroom, went and had a coffee with my mother, then I did the dishes and cooked a nice meal. I also threw away the trash and watched a documentary.

My point is that when I don’t take olanzapine I’m up and running.

As some of you know, I need physio for my back. But as long as I’m on olanzapine I’m not going to exercise.

I’m thinking of talking to my doc and ask him if I can lower the olanzapine dosage.

My medical regimen is:

Olanzapine 20mg
Paxil 20mg
Vraylar 1.5mg

If I could temporarily (3-6 months) decrease olanzapine and increase the vraylar, I think that would be good.

Do you guys think this is a good idea? Is it possible?

I really need the physio. The only problem as I can see is that increase of vraylar and decrease of olanzapine would cause terrible insomnia. I would need meds for that.

What’s your opinion on this?

That’s a very low dose of paxil

Don’t know about decreasing the olanzapine maybe suck it and see

I’ve been experimenting with my Risperdal dose

At 4mg I can hardly talk coherently

Yesterday I was at my father’s dentists office and I had a difficult time conversing with the dentist.
I started stuttering.

Yesterday and today I lowered the dose to 3.5mg again

My doctor told me to raise it to 4mg but I can hardly function and express myself at this dose.

Hopefully I won’t start feeling hypomanic and irritable at this lowered dose again but I have to do this.

I’d rather live with some irritability than turn into a zombie

I see my pdoc next week

I’ll discuss it with her further

This change may be temporary until I see her soon

20 mg is a high dose of Olanzapine.

You can try the med adjustment and see if it helps @Speedy

If you need it don’t try getting em to lower it.

Well the increase of vraylar would keep me sane I think??

I think it’s a good idea to try but discuss with your doctor

The half-life of olanzapine is about 30 hours, so there was more than half of your dose still in your body today. And if you’ve been on olanzapine for more than six weeks, missing a dose is not going to change your level of functioning much, if at all. It may be psychological.

Could be. But I want to decrease the dosage, to see if it helps.

You’ll never know unless you try it, so try it and see what happens. It’s not like you’re abruptly stopping all of your meds, so I don’t see a reason why your pdoc would have an issue with that.

Sounds like a great idea. Just dont do it alone. Do it with doctor guidance, As you probably know. Its good you sound mature about it and proactive about change, rather than just purely complaining, so thats refreshing! Good luck! :slightly_smiling_face:

These meds seem to have a long half life. I don’t think missing one dose would be the problem. Imo

I would try it out, at least if it’s a long time since you were on a lower dose. Things could possibly change over the years and you could maybe get by on a lower dose.

Discuss it with your doctor and see what they say.
