Very upset…I found out a while back she had a strange lump that had grown quite large in a short period of time. I got her into a vet asap and had it removed and even had an implant put in that is supposed to slow growth or even prevent future tumors. However a couple days ago I found another small lump on her chest that feels exactly like how the other tumor did. The likely scenario is that the tumor was malignant and metastasized. I can’t afford to continue to have tumors removed, and if she does have cancer that wouldn’t be of much use anyhow. She is still so lively and loving it breaks my heart to know her time is running out.
Its hard to say what you should do. We can never tell what our animals are feeling. Keep giving her love and feeding her well and think about what you should do. Maybe there are other forums for people who own rats that can help you out more
Yeah I’m on one. Unfortunately rats, especially her strain, are very prone to tumors. The majority of lab rats die due to tumors/cancer.
The weird thing is it doesn’t feel like a malignant tumor and neither did the other, malignant ones are supposed to feel attached to the bone underneath but neither of these are. So who knows. Either way it’s horrible. I’ve been learning a lot about death this year. If she goes it will be my third pet gone within a year’s span, second gone to cancer.
It could possibly be a cyst. I don’t know Im no expert. But cancer is scary. We can take care of our pets the best we can but there’s so much with life we can’t control
It’s really good for u of how vigilant u are with ur pets.
