I need to get a job flipping burgers because I’ll never be able to afford to go to college and I’m not smart enough for college anyway.
Maybe you’ll Inherit one day, win the lottery, get lucky on the stock market, marry someone rich,… you never know what life has in store for you.
None of that will happen for me unfortunately.
You can live better than a medieval king did just above the poverty line today.
But the main worry is if the fiat currencies fail. Might end up having hyperinflation. Bad times.
I’m worried about how expensive everything will get in the future. I don’t know if I can get by flipping burgers for the next 40+ years. It makes me really depressed.
There’s other jobs besides fast food you can do that doesn’t require high cognitive function.
Landscape
Exterior cleaning
Interior cleaning
Basically jobs that let your mind wander.
Just because you don’t have education don’t mean you have to be poor. If you do a good job you might get promoted and get a better situation.
The main thing is to have enough for the basics like rent, food and clothing. If you have that you are not really poor. There are probably a billion people in the world struggling to get food on the table.
Nothing wrong with flipping burgers. I have a physiotherapy degree and can’t work at all.
Just do it.
Something better will come along at some point.
Maybe try praying whilst you do it?
Idk, anything could happen. At least believe in luck?
I stopped praying because God never answered my prayers and I’m not lucky anymore. I’ll be stuck working until I die.
some warehousing jobs pay well, if you have warehouses around you, but they get time consuming and can be demanding sometimes with lots of qouta’s. if you drive a forklift around here you can make $20 hour or more.
also there are janitorial jobs, where you can work independently, some pay ok, more than you would make in disability.
personally, im conflicted if i want to go back to work, because i love my free time and freedom that comes with it. if i went back to work 30 hours a week, with what i would get paid, i could cover my expenses and maybe save a couple hundred thousand before i die, but it’s not an expensive place to live where i am, my house is very reasonable. in fact it’s a trailer on 3 acres, close to town. with no lot rent. just utilities and property taxes which are not very high.
i will by no means become rich, but i can live comfortable with my disability if i go back to work.
I would have to move to get a warehouse job.
Tried Care assisting? Attending to the basic needs of the elderly in Nursing Homes?
You just need a caring attitude - and a good back for the lifting. I was making £1200 a month doing 65 hours a week.
Its very rewarding too - you get grannys and grandpas that you will simply just fall in love with lol. I used to get asked specially to do peoples “personal care” for and get them ready for the day.
That sounds like a good job. It actually sounds like something I could do well and be able to stick with for a long time. In the past I never lasted too long with my jobs. The longest I worked was for about six months in 2012 but I haven’t worked since then. Thanks for letting me know about nursing homes. I had forgotten about them.
Most people do work till they die?
God isn’t a solution for everybody I guess.
Having a job is still impressive for someone with sz, whatever it may be and whatever anyone might think of it.
Yeah but I’d like to be able to retire someday and travel. There’s many places I’d like to visit. I’d also like to start a family and be able to send my kids to college. I guess I just need to find the right job and work hard to get promotions.
You’ve answered it yourself. If luck permits, you’ll be able to get all that. Just keep trying.
Good luck.
I want the same as well. and I hope for it everyday!
Oh! You didn’t mean you’d always be poor. You meant you might never get rich.
Me too.
Maybe I should take that back. They say health is a form of wealth. If I can get through this flu season without getting covid, I may consider myself rich.
I hope I don’t get COVID either and that my elderly dad doesn’t get it.
