You ever count your blessing to realize the green tea or figs you ingest were not on the menu even for royalty a few hundred years ago. I live in a beautiful section 8 apt and although I don’t have much money I feel soooo fortunate and grateful for my living arrangements
One of the people in the project I live in is from the Himalayas! It’s so humbling when you hear his stories of poverty and third world care!
I hear ya. We are fortunate and it’s healthy to recognize !
I think about it often, we don’t realize that much how privileged we are, and we should.
Oh man, I am luckier than most. I have lived in Silicon Valley since 1972. I saw my town grow from a sleepy town full of walnut orchards and grape orchards to housing the biggest high tech companies in the world. We were the heart of the PC and technological boom in the 80’s and 90’s and we are still going strong.
My family was technically poor but my dad kept us living in this affluent area and most of my parents friends were millionaires. We have everything here you can think of from any cusine you can imagine to the best entertainment you could dream of. And along with this I have had many, many great mental health resources from the time I first got sick. I suffered in luxury most of the time. I am often grateful for the great help that has been available to me.
well… i live in a slightly poor area… but i’m grateful that the crime rate and violence is low. ocassionally there;s laptop thieves & bike thieves that come into houses, schools or warungs (small shop) but its rare nowadays.
Glad your doing well. I am one step away from being homeless but I am still blessed. The people I live with won’t let me live on the streets they love me. I have everything I need. Sometimes I pretend like I am a princess and try to forget my troubles. I eat good food.
In some ways we live better than even the wealthiest did 500 years ago. Medical care is vastly better. We have heating and air conditioning. We have far more options for our diet. We don’t have nearly the opulence that they had, but I can live without that.
For those of us that have it tougher than others I just want to say I don’t mean this as any boasting.
When I was 12 I lived in a tent with bugs in my mattress for a few months, A half torn down trailer a while around that time too.
I’m counting my blessings rather than thinking I’m any hot stuff.
