I think that your move to Russia could be great, you could use your existing Russian language skills to achieve something great.

I live just a few hours from Saint Petersburg, when I came back from the US in 2002 I had an intention to travel to Russia and improve my Russian language skills, but now 16 years has passed and I have not gone to Russia yet. There are so many places where I’d like to travel in Russia, but I just have no motivation. @Chess24 I hope you achieve your dream and get some good experiences in today’s modern Russia.
It’s great to have dreams and goals, it keeps you sane. Well…as sane as folks like us can be…
I think Russia is the last place on the planet that I’d like to be. Maybe after North Korea. Maybe.

It doesn’t matter , the most important thing is to have a job that I like, that is the most important thing.
I take cold showers and take walks in cold weather, I will be fine.
I love Russia dearly because Russia gives me a chance for a better life.

The modern Russia is quite different from the Soviet Union, there are very rich people, but then there are also people who not doing so well. I was in Leningrad for three weeks just half a year before I went to the US in 1989. It was clear that the society was changing at the time. I was there with three other people and we had often an Estonian guide who showed different places and we discussed many things. We visited one Orthodox church and we did light candles there. I remember meeting some young men at one hotel and we discussed how there was a stock exchange in Petrograd 100 years ago before the city became Leningrad. We in our little town have many Russian visitors and many people from here visit also Russia. Some flea market signs are even in Russian in my town. Maybe one day I go to Russia and Israel, well I can dream always.
