Starting today I’m going to stop exercising. I’m going to try to lose weight by dieting but if I can’t lose weight because I take an antipsychotic then I’m going to eat whatever I want. I’ll give myself the three months of summer to try to lose weight before I stop my diet.
I use this calorie counter.
It’s available for iphone too.
I count my calories too but it’s good to have a casual attitude towards weight loss.
Eating healthier and a little less might be a good idea.
Good luck @anon21849028
Maybe You can walk still a bit each day as an easier way to exercise. What are you doing now as far as exercise
I was just walking for exercise before but I have to walk slow and for not too long or else my ankles hurt.
Calorie counting works. Though as you age your metabolism is slower so you have to eat less calories. Years ago I lost a lot of weight just by eating a lot less. I ate what I wanted just a lot less of it. I didn’t exercise and still lost weight
That’s what I want to do. I cut all my meal portions in half to try to lose weight. I’m on a high dose of Invega Sustenna so I don’t know if it will work.
I feel like this all the time. Personally I would encourage you to both diet and do some mild exersice. Getting outside is good for you even if it’s just 20 minute walking every day.
Ive put off my routine walks for a couple of weeks and now feel really slow and tired when exercising. Its a horrible feeling.
I want to start jogging. I never really got far with it but I feel like I need to do more exersice to feel healthy.
I know I should be exercising. I’m just lazy. Walking hurts my ankles sometimes I think because I’m so overweight so maybe I should start biking again. There are some good trails near where I live.
Its going to take more than three months to lose weight by dieting. I really cut my calories when I was at 225 and maybe in 6 months i was down to 210. I know you want to take it easy but you should atleast have healthy habits. Walking and eating right. If your ankles hurt try buying different shoes. Maybe hightop sneakers, basketball shoes, or a 6 inch hiking boot laced all the way up will relieve the ankle stress. Try taking antiinflamatory tablets before your walk also. start out going for slow short walks taking careful steps on flat terrain for a few months. Maybe 2 20 minute walks a day.
I eat a healthy diet and I cut all my meal portions in half.
I was thinking of going for a few twenty minute walks a day.
I give up on diets, too lazy, just eat less some days that I’m not hungry and other days eat better
I’ve tried two different kinds of shoes, New Balance and Nike and my ankles still hurt. Maybe I need to try a pair of boots now.
Even doing compound movements like bending down bending your knees standing up straight and raising your hands over your head and then standing on your tippy toes. Start buy doing ten of those 3 times. Or if that sounds boring just do as many as you can. Put your favorite music on or do it watching tv.
No sugar always make me Loose Some kilos.
I don’t want to be discouraging, just stating my experience. I was really fat and unhealthy, about 240lbs. I tried dieting, got a gym membership, went for walks, nothing worked. Then when I lowered my AP dose from 40mg down to 5mg, quit my antidepressant the weight just melted away within a couple months all by itself. Except the last 10 lbs, that seems to stick around. I can now eat almost anything I want and I don’t gain weight. I am now on Latuda and that didn’t cause any weight gain and works better than my old AP.
I don’t know your situation, so maybe a med change isn’t possible, but that made all the difference for me.
I’m on the highest dose of Invega Sustenna so maybe that’s why I’m so fat and keep gaining weight.
